October 20, 2016 will down in history as the day when we did as little work as possible. Seriously, how does someone concentrate after both Nintendo and Rockstar Games – two of the biggest video game companies on the planet – reveal videos on two highly anticipated products… the Nintendo Switch and Red Dead Redemption 2. Productivity officially went out of the window.
Fortunately, roughly 56 minutes separated both videos so everyone could breathe. Nintendo unveiled its new system, the Nintendo Switch, at 10:00AM ET. Then, at 11:00AM ET, Rockstar Games unleashed the first glimpse at Red Dead Redemption 2. But which video is the most popular on YouTube? Does the Nintendo Switch video have more hits than the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer?
In one corner, we have Nintendo Switch, a potential game changer in the hardware business. The Nintendo Switch is a tablet style device that lets you enjoy video games at home and on the go. The Nintendo Switch will release sometime in March 2017, and you will see the machine and some of the games in this feature, where we discuss everything we know about the Nintendo Switch so far.
In the other corner, Red Dead Redemption 2, the long-awaited Wild West sequel to the smash hit Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game that debuted all the way back in 2010. It won’t debut until fall 2017, but considering how huge Westworld is right now on HBO, and the love people have for RDR in general, now is a great time to show off a few snippets of gameplay. Oh, and Red Dead Redemption 2 looks gorgeous.
The verdict? Too close to call. The First Look at Nintendo Switch video on YouTube has 483,657 views, while the Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer has 467,547 views. So yes, technically Nintendo is ahead, but by such a thin margin, we expect these numbers to change dramatically after adults and kids get home from work and school, respectively.
Let us know what you think of the Nintendo Switch and Red Dead Redemption 2. We already know that you can play Nintendo Switch multiplayer games with friends, including the new Mario Kart. But we also think Red Dead Redemption will come with a robust multiplayer mode similar to GTA Online, except you’ll be able to form a posse with friends and become cowboys and cowgirls.
March and fall 2017… an unbearable wait! Thankfully you can pass the time with the NES Classic Edition, which come with 30 incredible NES video games like Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong and Double Dragon 2.
These are the NES games we can’t wait to enjoy with friends and family. Two words… Tecmo Bowl!
