Celebrate Life Achievements By Treating Yourself

Life can't be all work and no play. When you manage to achieve an important goal, you need to treat yourself!

When you step into the adult world, there are many things expected of you. You have to get a job which will provide enough income for food and shelter. You most likely want to build a family and have a younger generation to carry on your legacy. You have an entire set of rules you're required to follow, even when you don't agree with them all.

Everywhere you turn, there are things expected of adults which can become quite taxing. No one ever said being an adult was easy. There are times where it simply can't be. You have to put on your big boy/girl pants and push ahead. Sometimes you'll get a bit of a pat on the back for what you've done, and other times you'll be expected to move on without any fanfare.

The thing is, being a functioning adult in a high-stress world is certainly worthy of praise! This isn't to say every single task you tackle is deserving of a ticker tape parade, but you can definitely take a few moments to recognize a job well down.

Be Proud of your Accomplishments

Yes, you'll accomplish things in day-to-day life which are done equally as well by millions of other people. You get the job done and this is what matters. Sometimes those things we do, even when they're done by countless others, will be a bit more of a struggle for you. When you do manage to pull off your task and come out unscathed on the other side, it's time to recognize the achievement.

There's nothing wrong with taking a moment to see what you've accomplished. While it may seem small and insignificant to others, it's an important milestone to you! You don't need to take your job well done and shout it from the highest rooftop, but you can definitely celebrate in your own way.

Perhaps you feel you've earned yourself a special dessert for the day, or maybe some quiet time with a good book. Whatever you decide on, make sure to take a moment or two to make yourself feel good.

Celebrate Big Goals

While there are hundreds of tiny successes in any given day, everyone has those big moments where a particularly challenging goal has been met. It might be a huge presentation at work or a personal milestone hit in your exercise routine. Whatever the accomplishment is, big moments like this need to be recognized.

When you truly put yourself out there and reach to your furthest abilities, a successful result is cause for celebration. If you pulled off a big promotion at work, get out there and be happy about it! Call up some friends and share the great news. There's no doubt they'll want to get in on the celebration with you. Gather up and head out for a night on the town.

Have a fancy dinner and create some new memories with the ones you love. You managed to hit a major turning point in your life. Don't let the moment pass you by without proper recognition.

It's Okay to be Happy

For whatever reason, there are times in life where we feel like we should suppress our good feelings. While there are indeed moments where cheer and celebration aren't appropriate, you have to remember that feeling good isn't a bad thing. If you're feeling happiness about something you've achieved, it's okay!

You can remain humble and still revel in what you've managed to pull off. There's a fine line between being proud and being overly boisterous. You don't want to be someone who screams about every hurdle you've managed to leap. Being loud and proud about tiny achievements can get on the nerves of friends, family, and co-workers.

If you're feeling good about a moment like this, it's totally fine! Use those feelings to fuel a good day from within, rather than rubbing it in people's faces. Using the joy inside to motivate you will also help make the days of others enjoyable as well.

Life is a series of random events. Whether you like it or not, you have to meet those events head on. Sometimes we stumble and other times we succeed. When we do manage to climb the mountain and come out on top, there's nothing wrong with being happy about it. Treat yourself for a job well done, and then ready yourself for the next challenge ahead.

Treating yourself is a key way to lead a happy life. Another way is to learn to embrace your inner childOf course, there will be times when you don't feel like celebrating and being happy. In those moments, it's important to remember the family and friends you can turn to for help.
